Help Us Pray for Jorge Amador

Jorge Amador, our friend, and partner has been serving with us since 2004. We are asking for our friends to keep him in their prayers this week as he travels through Central & South America.

Help Connect Global Pray for our Friend Jorge as He Travels this Week

Jorge is departing today and will be traveling through Central America and South America over the next couple of weeks. There are some demonstrations and protesting still going on that makes travel a little more difficult and we are monitoring his movements closely and communicating with him along the way.

Please help us by agreeing to keep him in your prayers.

Jorge Amador, our friend, and partner for the past 13 years has become the National Director for Honduras with Connect Global, please join us in welcoming him to the team.

Jorge Amador, National Director for Honduras

Our team met Jorge over 13 years ago in the airport in San Pedro Sula. Travis, Gina and I all attended our first mission trip together which was organized and led by Morning Star Church of Tampa Florida. We landed on a small runway at a small airport just outside the city. We did not know anyone, as this was our very first trip to Honduras.

We only knew to look for a Honduran named Jorge.

Jorge quickly found us and took care of everything. He helped us navigate the hectic airport. He helped us load all of our belongings, we overpacked much more heavily back then, but above all else he greeted us as if he had known us our whole lives.

Jorge has never been overly formal, in fact, he has always had a very comfortable, and easy going demeanor with us, as if we were brothers with different mothers, but still having the same Father. He is one of our Heroes of the Faith

On our first trip, we experienced the Honduras country-side for well over 8 hours in an old yellow dog American made school bus.

Our team and all of our supplies fit snugly, but efficiently. Barreling down the roads of Honduras towards a small town called Cusuna, we felt every curve, and bump while getting a first-hand description of everything having to do with this new place we would be serving for the last 13.

Jorge has always been ready to serve in any capacity needed. His wisdom, charisma, and compassion make him an immediate friend to everyone he encounters. His loyalty make him a friend you want to keep..

We, here at Connect Global, have decided to bring Jorge on as National Director for Honduras.

HERO OF THE FAITH - JORGE AMADOR

Jorge hosts teams of missionaries from the US into Honduras and takes them to Cusuna, La Ceiba, San Pedro Sula, Tegucigalpa and all points in between.  He leaves his family for up to two weeks at a time to make the seven-hour drive by bus.  He does this up to a dozen times a year.  This type of work makes it very difficult for him to find a regular job for income between these trips.

He has suffered several terrible life tragedies and yet he continues to serve.  Even when he himself is in need of several basic items, on every call he speaks to me of someone else who is in need.  He wants us to buy food for her.  I want to buy food for him.

I’ve known Jorge since 2004 and I’ve never seen him put himself before others.  I’ve yet to hear him request aid for himself at the expense of others.  He truly has the heart of a servant.

Part of our trip next week will include blessing Jorge.  I’m sure we will visit the lady he has spoken to us about.  I’m sure we will bless him by buying her some food.  I also know we will financially, emotionally, and spiritually bless Jorge.  After all, he is my friend and a true Hero of the Faith.

This year, (2017), we have brought Jorge on to our team at Connect Global as our National Director in Honduras. He is an amazing servant, always thinking of someone else and ready to serve at a moments notice. He has been a great asset to our organizationa dna great friend to each of us personlly.

Thank you and may God bless you as well as our new National Director in Honduras, Jorge Amador.

Trip Update

Thank you to everyone who has been praying for and keeping up with our travels. We were just in Honduras and had a great time. Our travel involved assembling a team made up of Four from North Carolina, One from Texas, and Travis Moffitt + MYSELF from Florida.

We started our trip by meeting up in Atlanta and grabbing our flight to Honduras. It was pretty evident right away that we had a very solid team and that everyone made me very excited to be on the trip. This was the first time any of us had met each other in person all except for Travis who had met each of us separately.

Our flight and process through immigration was pretty smooth except for the loss of one Team bag (which was reclaimed at the end of the week.)

This team was great in so many ways, it is incredible still to think about it. Not only were we introducing them to a brand new experience in an uncomfortable environment but there were also some unplanned pit stops, and through it all everyone had such amazing attitudes. Even through a lot of tire trouble!

Aquaponics update

One of the major things on our to do list for this trip was to upgrade the already existing system at our friend Jorge's house. We brought with us a timer and other electric supplies to add solar power over to the system. This will allow for faster and more consistent movement of the water, and in turn will create bigger fish and veggies, faster. Over all we accomplished some big updates for this and for future systems. It was great to be able to work along side Jorge and hear his passion for creating and maintaining these sustainable systems.

Medical Update

Another component of the trip was facilitating the delivery of several hundred pounds of Children's and Prenatal vitamins as well as several dozen Medicines and ointments. These were a huge blessing to the very ill funded clinic in Cusuna Honduras. Dr Enrique is a very humble and hardworking man who, as the only full time doctor, has his work cut out for him. He is very grateful for any and all support he receives and was more than excited to have one of our team members who is also a doctor in NC assist him with his patients.

Church Update

The Church in Cusuna, is a marvelous light in the dark. Newly into it's second pastor and after 14 years of existence it continues to be a place where good drives out bad. Many new faces were in attendance for our last minute service Tuesday, and during regular service times there are no open seats. Pastor Adonis has inherited a great congregation, and I expect him to continue the growth of the members.

Jorge Amador

Our friend Jorge and His Wife Janeth just celebrated their daughters 1st birthday. We all were very happy to see and meet her. Our week was decidedly better for having them all there. Please keep them in your prayers. They have a hard job and are still adjusting to living with out consistent electricity, and are in need of reliable transportation.

Pastor Nahun Flores

We also had the pleasure of traveling with Pastor Nahun, Edenia, Abigail, Danny, and David Flores. One of my personal favorite families of all time. They have worked tirelessly in Cusuna for over 14 years, and we have literally watched the kids grow up. This family is very special to everyone who has met them. They work hard and do it all with smiles on their faces. I know that none of my trips to Cusuna over the past ten years would have been nearly as enjoyable if they were not there.

Thank You

Thank You to all who have kept us and this community in your prayers. It truly means a lot that we have so many people both Cusuna Alumni and otherwise that care so deeply for the work that we do in Cusuna. We are very excited about what the future holds. Lets continue to partner together in order to positively create sustainable solutions for some of the problems that exist in Cusuna.
