7 Things Remarkably Happy People Do Often | Inc.com

Actively express thankfulness.

According to one study, couples that expressed gratitude in their interactions with each other resulted in increases in relationship connection and satisfaction the next day--both for the person expressing thankfulness and (no big surprise) for the person receiving it. (In fact, the authors of the study said gratitude was like a "booster shot" for relationships.)

Of course the same is true at work. Express gratitude for employee's hard work and you both feel better about yourselves.

Another easy method is to write down a few things you are grateful for every night. One study showed people who wrote down 5 things they were thankful for once a week were 25 percent happier after ten weeks; in effect they dramatically increased their happiness set-point.

Happy people focus on what they have, not on what they don't have. It's motivating to want more in your career, relationships, bank account, etc. but thinking about what you already have, and expressing gratitude for it, will make you a lot happier.

And will remind you that even if you still have huge dreams you have already accomplished a lot--and should feel genuinely proud.

Love Your Neighbor

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.

Connect Global believes it's our responsibility to love our neighbors.

If you have a burden to show love to others and to make a positive difference in the lives of your "neighbors", then we invite you to join us.

Everyone needs love, and you may be just the person to fill the need

World Race Team is Doing a Great Job in La Ceiba

The World Race Team has been such a huge blessing to our efforts in La Ceiba Honduras now for the second year in a row. There are still a few weeks left, but they have already made an indelible impact in the lives in Honduras. Below is a comment from Travis Moffitt and a few more pictures from the team.

We are so honored to serve alongside these great missionaries from the #WorldRace here at the Comedor de Jesucristo in La Ceiba,

They have each given so much of themselves.

Update from La Ceiba

Update from La Ceiba

We came across this inscription on a door while serving at the Comedor de Jesus Cristo. Cristo vive translates to Christ lives. In just a few short days our team has served the poorest and homeless community, blessed the local police, encouraged workers at the hospital and Children's Cancer Foundation, prayed for children in the hospital and put smiles on the faces of many kids in need at a local preschool and orphange. Truly Christ lives inside of each member of this amazing team.

Connect Global at The Honduran Foundation for Kids with Cancer

Fundación Hondureña para el Niño con Cáncer

Honduran Foundation for Kids with Cancer

The sole purpose of this foundation is to provide free treatment to over 3000 children in Honduras who are currently battling cancer. Simple. Not Easy. With understaffed hospitals, and a lack of adequate medical supplies, the foundation truly has an uphill battle. They nonetheless spend every day fundraising, and fighting to treat as many children as they can. Once a child is diagnosed with cancer, the foundation is available to them, free of charge, until the battle ends. Everyday, from all across Honduras, parents bring their children to one of the Foundations 7 clinics.

The Local clinic here in La Ceiba is staffed by ONE individual, Tesla Welcher, who is in charge of scheduling treatments, local fundraising, and any other tasks that come her way.

One such task was converting her one room clinic into two by creating a wall that would allow the chemo treatments to have their own room separate from other children and their families as they await treatment. She asked CCI Church and Connect Global to help her complete this task. We happily agreed to help her and started work in March.

Our work crew created a block wall with sliding window panes which will enable the treatments to have their own room which gets this clinic much closer to the high standards that the foundation demands for the children they help. Safety as well as comfort and aesthetics are all of high importance for the foundation. Just because treatments are free to patients does not mean they should receive anything but the best.

The Connect Global team made final touches to the room by painting and giving the chairs and floors a deep scrubbing. We got the room back up to par just before the week's round of patients came in. Our team was able to share ice cream and playtime with the kids as well as hear the stories of two of the Foundations patients.

We are so proud of the work that this foundation does and look forward to partnering long-term with Tesla, and the others who work tirelessly furthering the mission.

Connect Global has been introduced this year to Dirección Nacional de la Niñez y la Familia (DINAF)  a community organization charged with the enforcement of the protection of children, adolescents, and families. They are the front line of child abuse, adoption, fostering, and family counseling. The local branch in La Ceiba has a school with the capacity of 90 and serves between 30 and 40 families a month though free counseling, light medical treatment, groceries, and daycare for working parents.

The school currently has around 30 students, and between 5 and 10 preschoolers.

The Bathrooms at DINAF were unsanitary, hazardous, and in need of consistent running water.

In March we began the renovation of two bathrooms that were in very bad shape. The water was not running, the pipes were strewn across the room, and open drains caused not only a danger to little feet, but an overall health hazard to all.

We also noticed that the kids area was in need of new dining tables for the cafeteria, a new medical table for their nurses station, and several pieces of school furniture needed refurbishing.

The Connect Global team that arrived in April, was able to jump right into the renovations, and made a huge difference to the place. Sanders, Paint brushes and Mr Clean in Hand, the team made light work of the children's furniture, bathrooms, and medical area.

Our team, and network of churches, individuals and local businesses made several monetary and physical donations including Medical Supplies, School Supplies, a new Medical Exam Table, and NEW School lunch tables made by a local craftsman and business owner, Oscar Canales.

I am so proud of the team and their efforts. I am also grateful for the several local and international partners that came together to make the start of this partnership a success. Special Thanks to: Open Arms Church, Revival Temple, Joshua Nations, Oscar Canales, JIlma Molinero, CCI Church La Ceiba, Life Community Church, Dr. Oviedo, Smart Copy Honduras, and Luis and Juana.

The team was joined on one of the work days, by the Lady Lee Foundation of Honduras, and the Mayor of the City of La Ceiba, Carlos Aguilar, to complete the donations and gifts.

Living Sacrifice

Living Sacrifice

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.
— Romans 12:1 NIV

We drove until the wheel actually fell off.

We drove until the wheel actually fell off.

I recently spent a week in Honduras working with some very dear friends.  On our second day I had the opportunity to drive for several hours with Pastor Nahun Flores.  His truck was having some trouble and we needed to take it to the service station three hours away.  We had a great time traveling and talking about life, family and ministry.  During the ride I shared with him a worship song that has been very touching and encouraging to me.  It's a great song of worship to God.  I listen to it every day.

Once we arrived at the service station we discovered a few extra items on his truck that needed repair.  Fortunately we were able to get all the expected and unexpected items taken care of for him.  When we left we had exceeded his expectations and he was blessed.  I know because he told me so. !

So which part of the day was worship?

Like most people I know, I love worship music.  I love the feeling of an outstanding team hitting that right chord, that perfect key transition, powering out that awesome chorus.  Like most people I know, I literally get goose bumps when the music is just right.  The song I played for my friend brings me to tears almost every time I hear it.  I love to experience worship music.

But the faith Jesus calls us to, is about more than an experience.  Life with the Christ is not as much about what I can experience from Him as it is about what I can become with Him.

The excerpt from the book of Romans says that my life can be lived out as a sacrifice of worship to God.  It's amazing that my simple, seemingly small life can be worship to the God of the universe.

Don't get me wrong, it feels a lot better to sing out a great worship ballad then it does to pay for car repairs.  So, at times, true worship feels more like work, or ... sacrifice.

I believe that our Father in Heaven loves to hear us sing to Him.  And I believe even more that He loves for us to serve His greatest creation, our fellow man.  He has been so kind to us.  Let us each then make sure we worship Him purely by our kindness, our sacrifice, our life lived out for the care of others.
